Thank you very much for your support to the Emergency - Hunger project in Mozambique. Thanks to the support received by all of us so far, we have managed to alleviate some of the hunger situation that affects much of the population of the Town of Tronga. The project is still open for a few more months, therefore for all those who want to continue supporting the Emergency project, but during the month of August, with the money that had been collected to date (9,426 Eur), a first shipment of money was made to our local partner in the country, the ESMABAMA Association (www.esmabama.org/).
With the sum of all your donations, it was possible to buy 400 bags of corn. Each sack allows to cover approximately the feeding of a person during three months, since we estimate that the average consumption of a person is of 0.5 Kg / day of corn. Therefore, these bags will cover the basic food of 200 people during the next three months. They are relative data, because later the families are very numerous (7 members per family approximately) and if it is delivered, 1 bag of 50 kg to a member of the family, as it is logical, will share it with the rest of the family.
Since the end of August, the ESMABAMA Association, through a team of activists residing in the area of intervention, in the town of Tronga, are distributing in hand to each person, sacks of corn to the population. For now the distributions are focusing on the most vulnerable population: the elderly, people suffering from serious diseases or malnutrition, pregnant women and children.
