Thanks to your generous contributions, we have been able to consolidate the microfinance system for women with credit unions (CECI), as a tool to fight poverty in Chad.
This has ensured a better coverage of the Le Tandjile region in financial services adapted and accessible to the excluded populations of the banking system, through microcredits.
At the end of the project, 100 women from 5 Savings Banks have received micro-credits that have generated economic returns. The different lines of credit of the Savings Banks are permanently open, and in particular this line of micro loans in solidarity with the periodicity of each one of them. Normally every six months a new line of credit is opened.
The new solidarity microcredit campaign has been presented through the Radio Local Effata and in the localities and neighborhoods of each Caja.
-High participation of women
-Good behavior regarding the aspect of joint liability in the return
-Good level of credit reimbursement and interest payment
-Very good performance of the credit agents in the preparation of the files and collection of information
In particular, there were visible positive changes in the beneficiaries and in the socio-economic environment of the groups, such as:
-Increases in the feeding of the respective families, access to health, and schooling of children.
-The project fundamentally helped the women beneficiaries by enabling the development of skills in activities within their reach given that a large majority are illiterate.
-An important number of women have been able to open an account in one of the Savings Banks, which will allow them to access loans of a higher amount.
Certainly not everything has been 100% positive: In some groups there has been conflict between the beneficiaries when some of them have not respected their commitment in the repayment of the credit or interest creating discontent in some of them and incomprehension in others. But they have also learned from this, because the conflicts have been solved satisfactorily and by group agreement.
Thanks to everybody who has helped.
